Sony Announces the PlayStation Classic

PlayStation 1 Classic

Sony announced today that they would be releasing a mini version of their very first console, the PlayStation 1.
After the huge success of the NES and SNES Classic Edition, people were expecting this year’s next plug and play console announcement to be the N64 Mini, but Sony surprised people this morning by revealing the existence of the PlayStation Classic.

The device will be smaller than a regular PS1 and like Nintendo’s mini console it can easily be held with one hand. The PlayStation Classic will come pre-loaded with 20 PlayStation games. At the moment only five of those games have been announced: Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms.

The console will come bundled with two controllers, the version with no joystick, one HDMI cable, one USB cable, but no power adapter.

The PlayStation Classic will be released on December 3, 2018, in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia and will cost $100 USD, €99.99 euro and $150 Australian Dollars.
